The Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards Winners

News: Film director Neil Jordan, Irish Times journalist Belinda McKeon, celebrity chef Rachel Allen, cycling star Nicholas Roche and popular fiction author Sheila O’ Flanagan were named as winners at the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards 2011 this evening.

Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney was presented with the Bob Hughes Lifetime Achievement Award by President Michael D. Higgins for his contribution to Irish literature over the past six decades.

News: The winners of the Galaxy National Book Awards 2011, a celebration of the very finest British authors and publishing, were revealed at a star-studded awards ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental, Knightsbridge, London. News: Bord Gáis Energy, headline sponsors of the Irish Book Awards, are launching a new prize category for 2011. Designed to recognise booksellers, and the vital role they play in connecting writers and readers.

How the Bord Gáis Energy Bookshop of the Year will be selected...

• Every bookshop that is a member of the Booksellers Association (BA) in Ireland will be automatically entered into the competition.

• From September 12th 2011, the general public will be invited to vote for their favourite bookshop on bordgaisenergybookclub.ie
