The Crime Thriller Awards

Now entering their fifth successful year in partnership with ITV3 and Specsavers, The Crime Thriller Awards (in association with the CWA) are set for another six-week season of ITV3 crime and drama programming, culminating in a glittering occasion at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel – which is televised as a seventh week season finale.
This year, the series will focus extensively on crime writers, and will be called Crime Connections. Shortlisted authors will be featured within the body of each programme. ITV3 is now the most viewed digital channel and is firmly established as the home of crime and drama. In November 2011, the ITV Research and Insight Team revealed that:
• 2011 series and awards event achieved an audience of over 3 million viewers
• 73% of those viewers most enjoyed watching featured crime writers
• 35% of viewers of the awards show subsequently purchased a featured book
• 21% of viewers of the awards show voted online for the ITV3 People's Bestseller Dagger 2011
In 2009 the Crime Thriller Awards merged with the Crime Writers' Association. The CWA have been synonymous with quality crime writing for over fifty years and the combined awards, where the 'Daggers' are presented reinforces this promotion as a major industry event.
Literary Awards presented include the CWA Gold Dagger for best crime novel of the year, the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger for best thriller, the CWA John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger for a new author of note & the Hall Of Fame Dagger, which honours the achievements of the genre’s greatest exponents, past and present.
The Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards also celebrates crime fiction off the page with awards focusing on the greatest crime and thriller films and TV dramas of the year – along with the actors who brought the characters to life.
