The Crime Thriller Awards

Enjoy a good read with Specsavers

Agile Marketing co-ordinates and produces point of sale for the Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards. The initiative has attracted the support of leading publishers and high street retailers with posters, magazines and stickered books in shops and supermarkets and coverage in the press.

The culmination of a six-week season of ITV3 crime and drama programming, the Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards is a glittering occasion at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. The awards ceremony celebrates the crème de la crème of Crime & Thriller fiction with awards focusing on the best of British and International crime thriller novels.

The 2011 season documentary series on ITV3 will be called the A-Z of Crime. It will feature 5 specially selected besetselling authors competing for the People’s Bestseller Dagger. The selected authors are Mark Billingham, Peter James, David Baldacci, Peter Robinson and Lee Child. Viewing figures for last year’s awards show and season grew by 40% on 2009. ITV3 is now the most viewed digital channel. Last year the series and awards achieved an audience of over 3million.

In 2009 the Crime Thriller Awards merged with the Crime Writers' Association. The CWA have been synonymous with quality crime writing for over fifty years and the combined awards, where the 'Daggers' are presented reinforces this promotion as a major industry event.

Literary Awards presented include the CWA Gold Dagger for best crime novel of the year, the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger for best thriller, the CWA John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger for a new author of note & the Hall Of Fame Dagger, which honours the achievements of the genre’s greatest exponents, past and present.

The Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards also celebrates crime fiction off the page with awards focusing on the greatest crime and thriller films and TV dramas of the year – along with the actors who brought the characters to life.
