The selected titles for the new series of The TV Book Club are announced

News: Ten books carefully chosen out of the thousands published each year are soon to become the titles everyone is talking about on TV’s best known literary discussion forum, when the series returns to More4 on Sunday 29 January, with repeat episodes on Channel Four.

Funded by Specsavers, the ten-part series sees a celebrity panel that includes Meera Syal, Dave Spikey and Laila Rouass, critiquing a new title each week. For the first time ever, viewers are invited to interact with the show, reading along with them and sending in their own reviews.

How To Be A Woman is voted Galaxy Book of the Year 2011

News: The winner of the Galaxy Book of the Year Award 2011 is The Times columnist Caitlin Moran for her irreverent take on modern feminism, How To Be A Woman. She was the overall winner of the public vote which comprised winners of all eleven categories from the Galaxy National Book Awards.

Solace named as Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book of the Year 2011

News: Belinda McKeon’s debut novel Solace named as Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book of the Year 2011. Solace, the debut novel of Longford arts journalist, playwright and former festival curator, Belinda McKeon, has been voted the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book of the Year for 2011.

The public were asked to vote for their favourite title from the list of ten category winners announced at the recent Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards 2011 and Solace, which was named as Sunday Independent Best Irish Newcomer of the Year at the awards, topped the poll.

British Sports Book Awards 2012 Nominations

News: We invite the UK book industry to make their nominations for the 2012 British Sports Book Awards. This is the 10th Anniversary of the awards and will be heavily promoted within the media. The surrounding sports book retail campaign will run in the weeks leading up to Father’s Day on 17th June and it is anticipated that key retailers will support the promotion of the shortlisted & winning titles.

News: Film director Neil Jordan, Irish Times journalist Belinda McKeon, celebrity chef Rachel Allen, cycling star Nicholas Roche and popular fiction author Sheila O’ Flanagan were named as winners at the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards 2011 this evening.

Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney was presented with the Bob Hughes Lifetime Achievement Award by President Michael D. Higgins for his contribution to Irish literature over the past six decades.
